Going forward is the world’s famous Orthodox Academy of Crete, where the World Orthodox Congress was held there a few years ago as well as many other conferences around the world in the past. Shortly before you get there, you will pass from the Holy Monastery of Panagia, where you will be able to stop for a while to tour the museum and their premises. Moreover, at around 2 km away from the lodging is the ancient olive tree in the village of Vouves, which is one of the seven olive trees in the Mediterranean region that reaches over 3,000 years. Although its exact age cannot be verified, the Monumental Olive Tree, as it is called, is considered to be the oldest one of the seven and is therefore designated as a nature preserve due to its unique aesthetic, ecological and of historical interest.
